Chip installed one week

Well, I've had the SuperChip from Mike installed for one week and 3 tanks of gas. (I was on vacation and drove a lot) I can't believe they don't install these things at the factory, they must have some goofy reason like say, CAFE ratings?
I love the way the chip has adjusted my shift points, i have been looking for a word or description that says it and i have come up with this: The transmission feels like it is wound a bit tighter, if that makes sense, and I think that the clunk is gone, I haven't heard it all week......that would just be a bonus.

I did not take note of my mileage because I figured at least at the beginning I would not be driving the same as usual and would be giving false info.

Now, the only thing i think I would have done different is gotten the flip chip. I don't know why, exactly except I like to have options and taking the chip out will just not do.....so, if your gonna get one, think hard about the flip chip..even if you dont have the power, the transmission part is still there...

In the end, I love my chip and don't think I'll be without one again.

Ed

PS: No, Mike is not my uncle

I have a 2001 F-150 Custom cab 5.4/3:55. This is a every day
driver..I have 15,000 miles on it already. I tow a 26 foot 4600lb
Travel Trailer about once a month. What are your opinions, Would
a chip really help my truck? I read and read about them. It's
not a fast "L" , but is it worth the money for me to try? Thanks in
advance for any help. Have a happy, But above all SAFE!! New year...Ford forever....

Although you're not towing a ton of weight (wait, actualy it's about 2.5 tons ) I think you'd be really pleased with what a chip would do. In my case I tow over 7000# and mine tows great!! I also get 11-14 MPG towing 55-70 MPH. Most people stock report 10 MPG or less towing anything substantial. I may have extrordinary results or it could be the combination of everything I've done to mine. Who knows, I just know it tows like a champ!

Bobby,

I installed my chip a couple of days after Christmas. It gives a good increase in throttle response. It used to be sluggish from a standing start and now it pulls off nicely. It also makes a difference in shifting as the transmission downshifts seamlessly as needed when going up a hill.

Ed

I will try to call you tomorrow

Hi S'crewloose,

Glad you're enjoying it.

Just in case it might be applicable, if you ever decide that you really do want to upgrade to the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip, we can usually work out a satisfactory trade-up deal in most cases, just shoot us an email or give us a call for details.

Have fun!

Hi hmustang,

You've got a very nice truck there even bone-stock, and modifications will always be available if you decide to go that route. Just enjoy your vehicle for what it is, a great F-150!

Bobby Tingle,

You don't have to own a musclecar or a Lightning to get good results from doing some simple bolt-on modifications to increase overall performance, driveability & the enjoyment level of your F-150. There are plenty of things that can be done to your F-150 to give you a nice improvement in all of that.

The Superchip is the most cost-effective single modification, so that is where many people start. It won't turn your truck into a rocketship of course, it's a nice easy 10%-12% power gainer, is how to look at it. The 5.4 can see a maximum gain of 28 hp & 46 lbs./ft. of torque, but in terms of how it will actually feel, basically like you picked up about 10% more motor under the hood is a good way to put it. It will also clean up the shift characteristics of the automatic transmission, remove the top speed liomiter in most of these trucks, etc.

There are of course other modifications you can do, intake kits, exhausts, underdrive pulleys and the list goes on and on; most people are looking for the best bang for the buck, and start off with the Superchip.

If you'd like to go over this in more detail, get a feel for what you can do with these vehicles, costs, effects, etc., give us a call sometime at our number listed below. We'll be happy to go over all of that with you.

Good luck with your truck,

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the info about the trade up, I will probalby call you, it sure will be something I think about. To tell you the truth, I just would hate to give up the total benefits of the chip when and if the gas prices warrant going back to low grade fuel, even temporarly. I also want to thank you for taking the time to talk to my buddy about the (Dodge) Shhhh. chip. I gave your name to another guy in work that owns an exploror, I wasn't sure you had anything for it but told him it wouldn't hurt to give you a ring.

Hi Bobby Tingle,

We just missed getting that snow here, but we'll be driving thru it it a lot this weekend, and counting on our trusty 4X4 F-150 with the Offroad package to get us and the load we'll be towing there!

Best of luck!
