Jacobs/MSD and superchips
Jacobs/MSD and superchips
Hey Mike got a question. On a 2000 4x4 expy would a ignition upgrade help performance??? Granted that I am getting a superchips... I know superchips works with Jacobs, does it also work with MSD. Which do you recomend for best performance with superchips. Income Tax return is being spent even before I get it, lol...
Hi Quadkeys,
Sure, the Superchip will work with those types of upgrades, but I would suggest that you give us a call before buying anything. That way we can go over with you in detail what you can expect, etc. so you can decide if that is a worthwhile upgrade for you.
In general, ignition upgrades on the newer vehicles are not really good raw power gainers, they generally help with throttle response and sometimes a tiny bit better mielage. If you have traditional coil packs, one for each bank, and traditional plug wires, then there are worthwhile upgrades you should consider, but with a 200 model, you have the COP (coil on plug) system most likely, and those systems don't see significant power gains from most ignition upgrades. We know what Jacob's claims of course, but don't expect those kinds of power gains in normally aspirated trim.
Just give us a shout & we'll go over all of that with you in detail, so you can decide.
