4.6? Mike?

I read on another post that Mike had said the Superchip is a 10% gain for the 5.4. Is that the same percentage for the 4.6? I have a 5sp, so I won't benefit from the shift point improvement. So what will I feel? I need a little convincing here.

Sorry. It's not Mike.
I'm like most. I like to throw in my two cents here and there.

If I remember correctly the gain was similar for the 4.6.

I am responding because I have the 4.6 and 5-speed.
As far as I was concerned it's pretty good stock.
The one thing I was real dissapointed with was the speed limiter. Mine shut me down ad around 95mph.
I don't drive too fast most of the time. but 95 is just too soon to shut me down. So one of the things the Superchip does is remove the speed limiter. For me that was a huge selling point.

I think it is important to concider the gain. 10%, 12%. whatever it is. It's not a huge gain. A supercharger would give much larger gains, at a much larger cost.
The Superchip, to me, feels like a major tune up. You know how when you let things go for way to long. When you the maintainance done the vehicle feels back to life. Renewed vigor. With the Superchip my truck feels this way all the time. The truck feels similar to stock, with a bit more pep. The more I get on the gas the more pep I got.

I remove the chip for service. When I do I can't wait to get the thing back in there. I feel the difference.

I'm one here using the Superchip. If you read enough you can see that many of us are quite pleased.
I don't know what kind of convincing you need, but all the Superchipped peole here should tell you something.

Good luck!
Tom

Hi Stump-Jumper,

Yes, the same basic percentage gains apply for the amount of power the Superchip adds for both the 4.6 and the 5.4 engines.

I think wittom gave an excellent description of how the Superchip feels to him in his response, that should help you to get an understanding of how the vehicle will feel from installing it. It's like we say; in round numbers, think of the Superchip as about a 10%-12% power gainer. That is a good way to describe what the vehicle feels like with the Superchip, it feels like you just picked up about 10% more motor under the hood. It's very smooth and just works quietly all the time to give you more power all the time, at any throttle position or rpm.

The Superchip gives the manual-transmission vechicles as much benefit as the automatics get in terms of the engine, it still gains the same amount of power regardless of whether you have a manual or an automatic.

With a manual tranny you get more of your power, both stock and modified with the Superchip, to the rear wheels than the automatics do, as manuals take roughly half as much power to turn as automatics. Manuals and automatics have their different aspects with the Superchip, the bottom line is, the Superchip works very well with any transmission type.

Removal of the top speed limiter is a big thing with a lot of our customers, like wittom mentioned. Few like a top speed limiter that won't allow triple-digit speeds, though if you plan to go that fast, make sure your tires are up to the job & be careful!

Another thing you'll like is that we raise the rev limiter just a bit, a few hundred rpm, to help in a passing situation on a 2-lane road, the idea being to help people to avoid having to upshift during passing at some speeds, or in emergency situations.

If you'd like to go over any of this in detail, please feel free to give us a call. Our contact info is below, as is the link to our online ordering system.
