? For Mike T.

Hiya Mike,

My wife got a 2000 Grand Prix with the 3.8 supercharged engine. I have been wanting to do some mods to it but I want to be able to do two things first.
1.) I want to be able to hook up my laptop to the car and read all the parameters of it while driving. I have found many places that have the software and cables for the firebirds and corvettes but not my application.
2) Once I read the car with the mods, I want the software to reprogram ( flash) the computer to tune the car better with the mods I have chossen.
Any inputs you have would be great. You can e-mail me at ecm747x@yahoo.com if you have any ideas where I can find this software for my car....Thanks..Eric

Hi ecm,

Great to see you again, I hope you're enjoying your Thanksgiving!

Yes, you & everyone else wants that kind of capability!

What we do is provide the finished ECU program products, so we're really not in that end of the market. The kinds of packages like you're talking about that are out there are generally available for only a few limited applications. They usually only allow you to make a few changes in certain areas, via a controlled menu structure within limited parameter ranges, for the most part, so you won't have complete conrol over everything with most of them, and can be effective for certain uses, to be sure. Because that is generally not what we do, I don't know right now if there is a canned package for your particular vehicle or not, as they generally are limited to only a very few of the most popular models, as you've already discovered. It may well exist, I don't know at this moment.

We do make an ignition computer that can be used on just about any vehicle that is either coil or TTL, and also a version can be programmed by the end user. This only controls timing however, so it won't help with the rest of your powertrain functions.

If you want to shoot us an email with your request, we'll keep it on file so we can let you know in case we do run across something like that, even if it's something we wouldn't supply directly.

We are doing more now in the way of general performance parts for those supercharged 3.8 GM applications, if you ever want to go over "the basics" for making power in those motors, feel free to touch base with us.

Good luck!
