???Octane Question???...MIKE......
Well just wondering when I buy my flip chip can one program be for running 106octane along with everything else...and will 106 octane damage the engine......I dont need it to blow up...so I wanted to find out first...
And also will the chip get rid of that horrible delay when your driving 65, and you go from OD to 2nd, it a huge delay because it bumps third on the way...
Ok well thats all for today.

Hi Tristan,
Yes, we can tune your engine for the use of 100+ octane fuel, just make sure that it is unleaded. Sometimes those ultra-high octane racing fuels are leaded, not unleaded, and that will cause problems pretty quick.
We've done exactly what you're thinking for a number of people in these vehicles, what they do is have our normal performance program for pump premium gas on Side 1, and then the program for the unleaded 100+ octane gas on Side 2, for when they run at the drag strip, for example. Running it on that high octane will not damage it, you just want to make sure that you have a program that tunes the engine for it properly.
Yes, the Superchip will get rid of the downshift delay, you'll be glad to know.

Out here in Cali the highest Octane I have heard of for unleaded is 103. The lead will most likley do things like get crap on your valves, heads, and your fuel system may not like it. Plus the major thing is passing smog. With the leaded fuel, you may not pass smog. That is why leaded fuel was removed from the pumps a long time ago.
Hi Tristan,
You cannot *ever* use any amount of leaded fuel in an unleaded vehicle, meaning any light truck or passenger car that is from the 1975 model year or later, that is highly illegal.
To answer your actual question, using leaded fuel will ruin your catalytic converters and isn't very kind to O2 sensors either, which are required to keep the engine running correctly. The O2 sensors are the engine's primary feedback mechanism, helping the ECU control air/fuel ratios and other aspects of engine tuning.
There is no "safe" amount of leaded gas to use in an unleaded vehicle, and of course that is illegal, so you never use leaded gas in an unleaded vehicle. You would pollute the air far more & damage your some of vehicle's emissions components.
