Mike, thanks for your help!!
I emailed you earlier today about the problem with my jetchip. I believe that the chip is bad. The chip worked fine before I took it out to have my motor replaced(piston slap). If they did reflash my ECM, shouldnt they have put an updated sticker somewhere on my truck?? I guess I will be ordering a Superchip sooner than I expected. OH WELL LOL..
Hi therock,
You're very welcome.
While we're always happy to get you set up with the Superchip so you can enjoy what you see the others here talking about, here's a thought: if you are the original owner of that Jet chip, you might still have warranty protection on it, most chipmakers give a Lifetime warranty to the original owner. If that's the case, you might be able to get it replaced under warranty. You'll need to double-check on this of course, but it's worth a try at least, if you bought it new and that unit has actually failed.
It may sound silly and I know you'd be happier with the Superchip, but I hate to see you just be completely "out" on your Jet chip if you are the original owner, so make sure to check your warranty if you bought it new. If it doesn't work out, the Superchip will always be available.
To answer your question, yes, if your ECU was reflashed, they are *supposed* to place the Notice of Modification sticker under the hood, but that is not always done, not by a long shot. Some dealers never do that, some dealers always do it, and everything in between, so you can't go by whether a sticker is there or not. As I mentioned in email, that really shouldn't affect a "generic" chip like a Jet or Hypertech, etc. but if the program is far enough off, it's a possibility. Not probable, but within the realm of possibiity, which was why I mentioned it, I doubt that's the problem here.
Good luck, let us know what happens & give us a call if you need any help!
