Auterra Code Scanner Any good?
I thought it would be fun to get a code scanner and play around. I found one from Auterra that hooks to your palm pilot. Looks pretty cool and is not very expesive compared to others.
Anyone seen it or have an opinion on it?
Thx!

Yea I would like to know to. That does look pretty cool, and since I already have a palm pilot, I'm set. I personally don't have a need for one as I am not a mechanic nor will ever be, but I can see the home mechanic being reallllyyyyyyy intrested in one.
I'm not a mechanic either, but I sometimes pretend I am one
I can see it being useful just to make sure everything is right and to know why my Check Engine light might be on. Keeps the dealer honest anyway.
I thought it was a pretty good deal since it appears it can read several of the formats, where most others you have to get a different scanner for each format. I could use it on my Ford and Plymouth.
Would love to hear from anyone using it. They do have a 30 day trial period if it was really bad.

After looking at it, I think I am going to go with the one from obd-2.com
The Auterra looks good, but you can not really store history. It seems to me that it would be key to diagnosing an intermittent problem, which I have had several!
The guys over at tauruscarclub.com have a discount sign up that lets you get it for under $100. Not a bad deal at all.
