Quick question for Mike.

Mike,

I purchased a chip from you about a year ago. I was at the track and had a lot of detonation in second and third gear. Wide open (obviously) throttle. I'm seeing it a little on the street when I give it some gas (half throttle), at say 45 to 60 mph. This happens as long as it doesn't down shift. The temperature was about 103 degrees. Is it possible to richen (I assume that's what I need) the fuel mixture to avoid this? I don't mind losing a little power to keep my motor intact. I've tried Citgo, Texaco, Mobil, and Chevron gas. I'm assuming the heat probably is coming into play here. It's just damn hot here most of the time. Can you help? Should I try to find a local shop to fix it?

Thanks

Bill Courtney

Hi Bill,

This is the exact same message, word for word, that you sent us in email, which is where you'll find our response.

Mike,
As I said in my email, I don't have access to my home email account very often. Could you please respond to bcourtne@insight.com.
Thanks

Hi Bill,

Ahh, I see.

OK, well, what I basically said was that this is the kind of thing that we need to handle over the phone, as we're going to need to discuss a number of things, and I have to ask a number of specific questions, etc. to get this nailed down for proper tuning with your current fuel quality.

By the way, just in case you may have forgotten the policies of F-150 Online, matters that are of a nature that are between vendor & their customer have to be conducted privately, off these message boards, so as not to "waste" the expensive bandwidth of this public web site with the private business affairs of vendors. What they are referring to specifically are things like if you have a problem with a part, or for example, order status, or things like pricing, etc., those are the kinds of things that we have to do privately, between the 2 parties. I know it can be a bit confusing sometimes, as we really do try to answer as many questions as is reasonably possible here, to try and help people if we can, but this situation basically falls into the category of where we have to draw the proverbial line, so to speak, so you'll know for future reference.

I do remember from going over your file after getting your email that we've reprogrammed that Superchip a number of times now, and the last time was just a little over a year ago (9/25/2000).

Please give us a call when you can spend a few minutes, and we'll be more than happy to go over this with you in detail Bill.

Talk to you soon,
