Chip for 4.6.....
Chip for 4.6.....
Suppose I was/will/might/want to get a superchip for a 97 4.6L, how much would it cost, what differences can I expect once it's installed? Just scouting the waters here I really never thought about looking into one, untill now......
Well
I don't think were allowed to say on here. I'll leave that up to Mr .Troyer. He's gonna ask you call him. He'll tell you what to expect from the chip. But he doesn't talk money on the site. Not his style. I can tell you you'll get a better response, firmer shifts, more top speed, a better kick down in gears when you want to pass someone. I got the custom programming done on mine. Meaning extra firm shifts an other goodies. He'll ask what mods you have, computer code, etc. Let's put it this way. It's not a much as you think it would be. I was surprised. Mike will be along sometime today. Not now it being 1:00 in the morning. Daaamn, that late already.
Hi Beast97,
To give you an idea of what the Superchip is going to do for your 4.6 F-150, the maximum rated gains are 26 horsepower and 40 lbs./ft. of torque.
However, that doesn't tell you how the vehicle is actually going to *feel* as a result of installing it, and I think the best way to express that is by saying that in round numbers, the Superchip is about a 10%-12% power-gainer. That's what you're vehicle is going to feel like, like it picked up about 10%-12% more motor under the hood, so to speak. If you have an automaitc transmission, the Superchip will also clean up the shift characteristics quite a bit, remving delays & retards & firming up the shifts to reduce slippage & improve response.
With regards to cost, the policies of F-150 Online prohibit us from discussing pricing issues here on the message boards, to keep them free of what is considered blatant commercial content, so for that info, we ask that you please contact us privately. You can also see the pricing by following the link to our online ordering system, and that link is just below in our signature line, so it's very easy to find.
Optimizing the powertrain programming of these vehicles is the best bang-for-the-buck modification for these vehicles, as nothing else will deliver that kind of overall performance improvement for less money. The Superchip isn't going to feel like a supercharger, but it is noticeable and well worth it's cost.
The Superchip will work well with most other popular bolt-on mods, like K&N air filters, airbox kits, & cat-back exhaust systems. Also, if you have heavy modifications, or changes that have affected engine tuning, we can of course provide custom programming for just about any type of modification from mild to wild.
If you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, please feel free to give us a shout by email or phone, our contact info is just below.
Best of luck with your truck,
