2003 PATS module obsolete?

Newbe here, please be gentle.
Just bought F150, only had one key/fob. Dealership says that the PATS module is bad, and it is obsolete. To replace it, the entire instrument cluster will need to be replaced. Is this true?

Why do they say that, are you having issues or what?

Might be time for a second opinion. Plus a little more info would be helpful.

They said the PATS is bad, bc they couldn't get new key to program properly; trying to get a spare key.

A 2003 F150 doesn't have anything called a PATS module.

The complete system includes the PCM, the Instrument Cluster, and the key-ring transceiver. If the existing key works, there's nothing wrong with the transceiver. Got to one of the retailers that can "clone" an existing key and be done with it for now. Clone keys usually run $60-75, some Home Depots, for example, have the machine.

Hmm. Dealership called it a PAPS.
