SCT and '98 speedometer correction

I have a 4r70w, and all info available says my speedo is mechanically controlled by a little gear on the drivers side of the transmission case... WRONG! After hours of slaving to get the sensor out, I discover nothing but a magnet! WTF gives? How do I adjust this style of Speedo? If my tuner is capable, how do I access the feature bc I can't find an option allowing it?

Thx!

The 98 is mechanical, and you do need to change the VSS gear. It's not correctable with a programmer. You must have pulled the wrong sensor.

SOB! I pulled the OSS not VSS! I didn't know there was more than one. I can't find an image that shows the location of the VSS on a 4x4. Dang Ford manual only shows the OSS on the schematic!
Looks like I need to go on the hunt again.

Ugh. The VSS on a 4x4 is on the transfer case. Duh! All the info I was referencing was for 4x2's.
