Superchip reprogram after mods?

hey mike, i have had my superchip for about 6 months now, but since then i have added a K&N FIPK, and i am about to add a high stall torque converter, headers, and possibly pulleys. my question is really about the torque converter, am i going to have to get a custom reprogram for my chip since the chip controls some of the transmission functions? and if not, would it be to my benefit to get my chip reprogrammed to run more efficiently with the new mods i have added? thanks in advance

Cool

BullittMcQueen, most of the modifications don't need any reprogramming of the chip other than a 15 minute drain. (Disconnect battery, turn headlights on for about 15 mintues, shut headlights off & then re-connect battery) Via the fun that Neal "The HP Freak" has been having with his truck, I know that there is a header program. Should you change the MAF, it has to be re-calibrated for the specific injectors you are running. And the obvious, a supercharger program but that maybe just fuel curve stuff ??? Mike T. will know more about those programs as I have just done the major three mods on my truck. I don't want to spend too much on this one, so I can really nail the next truck but it might be a diesel. I hope this answers some of your questions, I will direct Neal to this post as well to see what he can add.

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'

Hi BullittMcQueen,

Hey, I was just thinking, since you're obviously a Bullitt (the movie, for those reading this) & a Steve McQueen fan, you could also use the screen name "Bud Ekins", which was the name of the stunt driver look-alike for Steve McQueen. We just happened to be in San Francisco for the 3 weeks it took to film those chase scenes, and got to see & meet a few of the people working on the film in the 60's. Just some trivia for you.............

To answer your question, it depends on which torque converter, how high the stall speed is, etc. We just dropped in a Precision "Stallion" converter in my Lightning, and it's about a 2500 rpm stall speed. Verrrry nice.

Since you're going to add headers, and since you're spending the money to go with a high stall speed torque converter, then the cost of a custom program is a drop in the proverbial bucket, so to speak, so we should at least go ahead and do the custom programming for the headers, as that will get you another 5 ponies or so, and then look at anything we may need to do for the TQ, such as bringing up the line pressure some more to counter any tendency for the TQ to soften up the shifts a bit, etc. That's up to you of course.

Underdrive pulleys do not require any adjustments to the program.

Just give us a quick call when you get a chance, and let's go over the exact specs, etc., so I can give you a definitive answer on the TQ changes needed, if any.

Congrats on your mods by the way, you're going to *love* what the torque converter does for getting off the line. It turned my Lightning into an animal off the line, but otherwise, you cannot tell that it's there. Beautiful result, & I'm sure you're going to be thrilled!

Talk to you soon,
