Question Question for Mike T.

Hiya Mike,

I will probably get flamed...lol I added a new car to my stable, or I should say my wife did. She got a 2000 Grand Prix GTP coupe. The v/6 3800 supercharged model. I must admit I liked it better than the Mustang in ride and performance as well, sorry to say....
I am new to GM products and the computer workings. Do you make a chip for this configuration car? Also have you any information, tech data, on the surper charger and such.
You can e-mail me with any info you have at ecm747x@ccrtc.com I can only find h.p #s but nothing on what type of s.c. is in it. It doesn't appear to be even intercooled from what I see...But none the less it does perform rather well...just wanting to know if a chip will help it out much. Also what it does to the tranny as well. This car does have what is called a "performance shift" button. I noticed that this changes the rpm it shifts at.
Take it easy Mike.....regards...Eric

Hi ecm747x,

Nah, as long as you still own a Ford of some kind, you probably won't be tarred & feathered around here.

Those supercharged 3.8 V-6's that GM is using in the Buicks & Pontiacs is a potent little motor, about 240 horsepower stock if memory serves, and most of them will run low 15's in the 1/4 mile bone-stock.

Your new vehicle uses the Eaton M90 supercharger, which is a darn fine little huffer, I ran one of those on my '94 Super Coupe at 17 PSI for 70K miles on pump premium, and enjoyed playing with it quite a bit. In some ways I wish we still had it. It was running low 13's in full street trim with a full tank of gas, spare tire, etc. on board, and those Super Coupes were heavier than what you have there.

We do not currently offer an application for those vehicles, though we do have one planned for it in the works. It will most likely consist of a pulley to raise boost and then a program to properly tune the motor, like our kit for the Super Coupes, and give much better shift characteristics, etc. It is not available right now, nor will it be anytime in the near future, we're probably 6-8 months off at least.

There are some things you can do right away, there are higher boost pulleys available, and of course the intake air tract & the exhaust both need help on that blower motor.

We do not supply anything directly for that vehicle, but we'll be happy to give you some pointers & sources, etc. if you'd like to give us a shout.

Those GTP Pontiacs & GS Regal etc. Buicks are no slouches, and they have a lot of potential indeed. Looks like you've got a fun project on your hands.

Good luck!
