Question Question for Mike

Mike,

I spoke with you last week about the new truck I was getting, well after a long wait the truck finally showed up on the trasport. It took my 18 hrs to strip the old truck and rebuild the new.

I am now ready to reprogram my chip but, the sticker in the piller(door) is gone. Do I have to pull the processor to see the code or can I find it somewhere else.

Hi Matt,

You'll have to forgive me, as we talk to too many people to remember who bought which vehicle, etc., as you might imagine.

I don't know if you got an F-150, F-350, etc., and it makes a big dffierence in the computer location as well as the location of the code stickers.

If it's an Expedition, F-150 or an F-250 Light Duty, the code stickers and the computers are in the same location as all 1997 & newer F-150's, and you can get the code from the sticker that is on the computer itself. The computer is just above the passenger's kick panel, and it's held to it's mounting plate/bracket by a small black plastic pressure clip. Just pull the clip off, and then look on the back of the computer where that clip was covering up, and there you should see another code sticker. If not, just remove the computer from the vehicle and there will always be a large sticker on top of every Ford computer with several lines of writing. The code will be a few lines down and will stand out, as it's printed in bold capitals.

If this is a Super Duty truck, then the computer and the code sticker are over on the driver's side. The code sticker is in the same place, but over on the driver's side, in the front part of the door frame, just above the door hinges usually.

If that code sticker is missing on a Super Duity truck, then go to the computer, which is mounted just to the right of the emergency brake pedal, covered by a black plastic shroud. This shroud is held in place by two 7mm bolts, remove them and then just push the shroud to the right a bit, and you should be able to read the code sticker on the back of the computer. If not, once again, just remove the computer, and you'll see the big code sticker on the top of it.

Let us know if you have any trouble!
