maybe a stupid question, stratey code?

Hey guys,

One off my buddies had a Livernois tuner on his ecoboost f150, and he is trading the truck in...so I'm going to buy the tuner from him to use on mine. I already spoke to Livernois, and they said that it's not a problem to transfer it to a new truck...it just cost a fee to re-license it or whatever they called it.

But they said I need the strategy code for both trucks...not a problem, right? Well, I have searched online, and poked around under the hood of my truck...I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for, or where it is located. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Mine is an '11 ecoboost, his is also....

Thanks for any help,
Kyle

Yeap - passenger side of the engine compartment right on the firewall - has 2 clips to take off of the cover - the strategy code is under the cover

I almost bought a Livernois tuner a while back but the tuner was vin locked and couldn't be used on any other truck besides the original truck. On their website it clearly states that the tuner is vin locked- so be careful and good luck !

Thanks for the info. After talking to another member through PM's, I guess I'm going to have to get a little more info from Livernois. I'm not sure if they need the box number or the strategy code, and if I will have to use the tuner to pull the current strategy code off of the truck...I really don't know.

Oh, and about being vin-locked...
They charge $250 to transfer it to another vehicle...they said it's not a charge from them, it's from the company that actually makes the tuners.

Kewl I was told that they couldn't recalibrate the tuner to another truck , but ask plenty of questions so you don't end up with a 600 dollar paper weight.

I spoke with Rick from Livernois, here is what is required to transfer their tuner from 1 truck to another:

-VIN from both trucks
-serial number from the tuner
-this code from the vehicle that the tuner will be going on:

Unfortunately, AIW charges $250 to re-license the tuner to a new vehicle...but depending on what you pay for the used tuner, you can still save some $$ over a new one.

IF the device returns the tuned vehicle to stock, it "unlocks"

Wish they would've re-programmed the tuners about 6 -8 months ago - would've bought one - but was told it wasn't possible
