Flip Chip Is In... And WOW....
Flip Chip Is In... And WOW....
I got my Flipchip tonight and put in my 01 Expy. All I can say is that Mike told me that my code (PSW2) responds very well to the Superchip programming but I wasn't expecting this!! BTW I'm not a Superchip "newbee" I had one in my 99 F150 Lariat 4X4 but this wakes up the big Expy better that the Lariat's did and I really liked that one.... THANKS MIKE!!!
Hi Mike,
Great to "see" you again!
Glad you're enjoying the Flip Chip & congratulations again on the 2001 Expy, it's a sweet ride.
We're actually making the same amount of peak power gains as we always did in these powertrains, but there were some advances made in the transmission programming that freed up a bit more power getting to the ground since you got your first Superchip, and that may be why you're enjoying this next Superchip a bit more, perhaps.
Thanks for your post & have fun!

Hi lilbear,
If you wouldn't mind a quick response from me.........the power gains on the 87 octane side of the Flip Chip are small, 3-5 horsepower at most.
Even though the power gain is small on the 87 octane program, the truck will still accelerate a bit quicker and the powertrain will be mroe responsive on that 87 octane program, thanks to the removal of the full power onset delay, and other various retards & delays, but the *real* power gain comes when running on the premium gas side of the Flip Chip.
I know you want to hear from Mike S., and I'm sure he'll favor you with a response, I thought I'd just give you a quick comment, just to give you a rough idea of what it's going to do on the 87 octane program, in case it might help a bit.

LILBEAR,
I have yet to run it with 87 octane sence I put the chip in but I would bet what Mike T says is true. I had them program the chip with extra firm shifts on both sides so even if there is only a 3-5 hp increase over stock I'm sure that it will "feel" like more....

Hi MikeS,
Thanks for your post!
Sounds like you fall in the first "half" of our Flip Chip customers, which are the ones who run it all the time in the premium gas program, as once they get a taste of how the vehicle runs on that program, they aren't satisfied with anything less.
Then the other "half" are those who are towing, and will do just about the opposite, they'll run it on the 87 octane program all the time, unless they're towing, and then they'll fill up with premium and use the added power only when towing.
Have fun,
