If I put the 400 dollar tune on and gain 2mpg on 91 octane it will cost me 19.4 cents a mile so other than being more fun to drive I don't see how guys can claim it will pay for itself like all the reviews. Part of me is looking at a new bike for fuel economy and a blower for the truck as a toy. I don't however see the wife letting me go that route. Looks like my Christmas bonus will go into more fishing gear again this year. I will probably get a leveling kit for the front and live with the truck as it is. Since it only has 800 miles on the new tires it will be a while before I need new tires by then maybe a tuner will come out that does more what I am looking for. Someone may be designing it right now. almost wish the dealer had not put new tires on it so I could get what I want without the wife complaining I am wasting money. Thanks for answering some of my questions.
When I had the Gryphon on my 2005, "paying for itself" was never a consideration. It was the one mod I would have been the most reluctant to give up. It made my truck fun to drive and the guages alone were worth my cost of $359. If efficiency alone is all you are considering, then no, it will not pay for itself.

Before I bought the 09 I drove several 05 to 07 trucks the final choice came done to a 07 with low miles or this one. The price was the same since the 07 only had 29k on it the difference in diving was night and day. The 07 was sluggish and slow it drove nice but reminded me of driving a van performance wise. The night I bought this I drove the 07 then I drove this one, drive wise it was like getting out of Grandma's Impala and into a Camaro. So I was thinking get a tuner like the Six Gun with custom tunes and a leveling kit and drive it till I need tires then decide if I want to lift it or live with it and get tires for it based on my choice then. I am still avg 15.8 back and forth to work in town So I can't complain as in town mileage is the same as the diesel was on cheaper fuel. I'll see how it behaves on a long trip in a few weeks. Thanks
