Unlocking an Xcal SF3
Unlocking an Xcal SF3
Background story:
My truck was recently totaled in College Station, TX delivering a mattress to my sister. Obviously it was sent to a yard there for holding until a claims adjuster could assess the damage. I live in Ft. Worth about 3 hours away, and have now been told my truck is totaled. Truck was currently running a custom VMP tune at the time, and I didn't have the tuner on me to return it to stock. And I just remembered this...
So, besides sending the unit to SCT to have them unlock it, does anyone here know of any other options I have?
The truck is being hauled to North Houston now since I've signed the title over, but I'm going to contact the insurance company and see if they will tell me where the truck has gone so I can hopefully return it to stock.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of was SCT being my only hope.
My dad has also figured he might buy it for his 7.3 PSD for the cost of unlocking it, and use it to tune his truck for towing and stuff.
I was hoping that it would stay with me becuase then I don't have to buy a new on to tune the 5.0.

It costs $150 to get SCT to unlock a unit, and have to ship it to them, takes about a week to two weeks.
BUT if you can provide proof that your vehicle was wrecked which had your tune on it, they will unlock it for free. Just have to call them at 407 774-2447 and set up a RMA first and they will tell you what sort of proof they need the truck was wrecked. The only situation where you don't have to pay the $150 unlock fee, even their dealers have to pay same fee to get anything unlocked.
