Edge Evo and CHT reading with it being unplugged
Edge Evo and CHT reading with it being unplugged
I have been chasing an issue with my truck, the Temp gauge on the cluster is not reading correctly and on my tuner. On the Evo it was reading in the negatives when the the CHT was plugged in and it cause my truck to idle high and would not start after it ran.
So I unplugged the CHT sensor, changed it out bought a new wiring harness "from valve cover to sensor", still same problem. With truck turned off I have 4.93 volts at the sensor. I placed a jumper wire in between the connection and got 44 degrees on the EVO. I did not check voltage with truck running because I had the air intake taken out so that I could get at the sensor. However with the CHT unplugged the truck runs strong like a champ, with no other issues. Except for no A/C
The odd thing is that when I reached down and touched the CHT sensor the reading on the EVO would go positive but not the correct temp. Maybe I damage the new sensor when I installed it. The other thing is why would my EVO have a temperature reading if the CHT is unplugged?? This is the thing that gets me !! How can it read a temp without the sensor information ???
Truck is an 01' Super Crew 5.4L, 165K miles, CEL code P1289. and without a doubt it is a CHT sensor not a ECT.
Any help or suggestion would be appreciated, especially from my Texas freinds! It been hot for awhile and is only going to get hotter. No A/C is bearable but not any fun with family.

Your issue might be the pcm or some other part of the wiring harness has a bad wire...check the ground points also ....the Evo only repeats what information the pcm is given....
The Edge Evolution also can have a cable issue and hopefully thats not being part of the problem....

So do you think that I should return it to stock and give EDGE a call to see if they have ran into this before.
Also thinking about buying another CHT sensor and just plugging it in to see if the results change.
I saw on here that there was a diagnosis procedure for trouble shooting the CHT sensor and wire. Except they did not post the charts, can someone post it with all diagrams and charts.
