Another happy 5Star customer

Decided to order a 93 performance/tow tune Friday morning, had one ready to load within an hour.

I have only driven the truck about 15 miles since loading it, but the differences in the truck are pretty obvious. Throttle response and shifting are on greatly improved.

I emailed Mike about a question I had when loading the tune on my SCT X3 and he replied within minutes. Can't get much better than that!

Mike, you are the man!

Give it a couple of weeks. Your truck and mine will go through the adaptive drive learning, and then it gets better! I have been running the 87 octane version of your tune for a year. The better transmission shifting is worth the price alone to me. I bought the same tune as you Friday. I have pumped about 28 gallons of 93 octane in the tank so it will be next weekend until I will need to put gas in. Then I will be able to load the tune in the truck. Mike is pretty good about taking care of any problems pronto. I think I had the same problem as you about loading the tune into the SCT tuner. They ( SCT ) have changed the way it loads into the device. Updated my firmware and still had problems. I have loaded many email tunes before and was more or less throwing a fit. Long story short, I got with SCT tech support and let them have at it. I kept getting a problem popup screen. SCT got with me and I let them take over. It seems now that with the latest firmware / software update that as soon as you download the program from your desktop to your updater screen it goes straight to the device. You used to have to download it to the updater then to the device. Now it is a lot simpler. I almost felt embarrassed. Turns out that the tune was already there. Meanwhile I was throwing a category 3 fit.

It really does not matter if it is a 5.0 or in my case a 5.4. You will be well pleased. Improved transmission shifting is worth the cost of it alone.

Glad to hear you like the 93 tune. I run the 5star 91 and it`s pretty nice. I`ve noticed on these really hot and humid days though the truck is definitely not making quite as much power. Fortunately this does not affect the tranny calibrations! Is the computer pulling some timing with the near 100% humidity my area of town is experiencing? 40c = 104 fahrenheit. Cuz around 5am when it's cool out the truck screams priddy darn good! Not trying to hijack fx4 silverscrew

Looks like he has a 2004 5.4 3v.

Cool air is more dense so it contains more oxygen. I get the same thing even with the 87 octane tune. I live in north Alabama. When I go to work it is generally cool in the mornings and there definitely is more power there than in the afternoon / evening when I get off. We will get a cool snap in very late spring when the summer blends of gas are out. You can make some HP then! I wished it would run all the time like it does on those few days.

In my case no. I have the stock intake. Not a huge difference but you can tell it. I had a Mustang with a CAI and custom tunes. On the cooler mornings it was far more peppy.

No washoooobi here!
I'm aware of the oxygen thing - so ecu is pulling a bit of timing to compensate? Only thing I could think of.

Love the cool mornings with a good tank of "pure" gas....as pure as we can buy I guess

The moisture (humidity) displaces oxygen as well. Hard to make power in the summer in Florida...

mapitts66 is correct, after the adaptive learning the truck runs even better than it did at first.

The first day the cruise control couldn't hold the truck at speed, but now holds steady where I set it and it climbs the small hills around here without all the constant downshifts I was used to. That should help out my highway gas mileage a bunch.

What did you pay for your tune? One area on his site has it listed at 60$ and another its 85. When you order a performance does the tow tune come with it or is that a separate purchase?

Any 2 custom tunes $100. A single $65. I have an 87 octane economy tune, a 87 octane performance / tow tune, and a 93 octane performance / tow tune. Mikes tunes over write the engine & transmission tune.
