Performance (tow holds gears longer).

Manners are important ...

Perf tunes will net better performance gains than a tow tune,. As for mileage - it's not assured, but generally speaking a perf tune will net better econo, if there is any comparison or result... As Sir Shotgunz alludes to ...

I used to tote that same philosophy for mileage but so far my results have been supporting tow tunes doing better. The main reason I can come up with is improved torque means that the engine runs at a lower % load for cruising and general driving.

For my truck (notice the emphasis)
Perf<Stock<Tow is the trend when it comes to mileage with driving style remaining the same. I will mention a caveat. If you drive different with the performance tune the mileage improves for that one to slightly surpass the stock tune, decreases for stock and I'd assume would decrease with the tow but I haven't tested it yet.
