5 star tuning

Just curious if anyone on here has the 3v 5.4, 2009-2010 f150, using the 5 star tuning program? Any pros an cons are welcome. I read nothing but good things about mike. Hopefully the same here. Thanks for any info.

Many of us are running 5star's tunes on that setup. Try the search function a little harder. The answers you seek are here.

No complaints here. I called 5 Star and actually got to speak to him (unlike some vendors on here). I placed my order and I had my tuner on my door step a few days later. I wanted him to tweak a few settings on it and he emailed me a new tune to load that same day. I couldnt be happier. Ive been running a 87 tune and theres a little more power but the throttle response and the shifting are greatly improved. Go with 5 Star, you wont be disappointed.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. Canadianelbow. I read your whole fiasco. And for you to still recomend them is saying alot, i realize, like i assume you do, its made by man, it can an will break. Ive been looking at his for a while, and seems like 99.5 out of 100 would reuse him... So i guess its time to pull the trigger. Again it will be a few days, guys keep the pros an cons coming, my mind can be changed,.

I have nothing but good to say about Mike & 5 Star. I run the 87 octane tow / haul program and wound not ever consider going back. Huge difference in how well it comes together and what all Ford left on the table.

hello guys, here it is friday. and i pulled the trigger on the 5 star tune... awesome customer service, especially for those of us, who have trouble downloading anything from the internet. thanks mike for the time an help, it was very much appreciated, now onto the review

3 days for tuner delivery.
checked my truck with it, sent mike an email to my factory strategies, within 10 mins, he responded, then i had some questions, then within 15 mins, i had my tunes, 87 tow/performance, and 93 performance. in my inbox
45 mins later truck tuned. very easy.
now with only 250 miles on it, fingers crossed,-im not gonna brag bout it being a new beast, i will say there is a few things that i wanted addressed he did it.
1. that dbw sucked. FIXED
2.throttle response now is much better.still lackin a lil off the line, but with all the traction control these trucks have, it kills it anyway, but in the passing lane the reponse is amazing
3. not sure if anyone else has noticed it, but thses new 6 speeds, there is no coastin, as the ford manual says... when the gas pedal is not applied, you will feel a slight braking effect, wth ford? days of 88 cent gas is gone, i wanna coast some i live in the the hilly part of tn, plenty of coasting after burning gas gettin up the other side. not in this truck, my 08 i could throw into neautral, rpms would drop to like 800, and free wheel forever, no hyper miling is this rig... now with the tune,,, that is gone... thank you mike-FIXED
4.mileage i can suspect will be a lil better, cause it holds gears much longer, instead of straight to 6th at 35.-FIXED
5 MPG- STILL TO BE DETERMINED
hope this may help some of you on the fence, and mostly to say GREAT JOB 5 STAR!!

I have been wanting to try a tune from 5 star for awhile. I have a tuner and am running a VMP tune that is made to work with E85 and 89 octane fuel we have here in Iowa (it has 10% ethanol in it.) Is it possible for me to order a single similar tune from 5 star to compare directly with my VMP tune? I dont want a bunch of different tunes, I just want to find out which company can send me the best tune for the fuel I use.

Yes, if you have a slot for another tune on the tuner, Mike can write it.
