Banks Eng. Trans-command chip

Has anyone used this chip? I have a 5.4 L that I am interested in getting better shifting in the transminssion for towing.

This chip only affects the transmission and not the timing or engine perf. You don't need 92 octane gas either.

That sounds like it might help my work vehicle. Do you have any links so we can find out more about it?

This is a link.

http://www.bankspower.com and then select Ford Trucks. They have equipment for the 5.4L and greater gas and diesel engines.

They have a powerpack system:
PowerPack system
Includes: Banks Ram-Air intake with Ballistic filter housing, lifetime filter and service kit; Stainless, heat-shielded TorqueTube exhaust manifolds; Stainless, low-restriction Dynaflow muffler; Stainless, 3.5" constant-diameter Monster tailpipe (Expedition: 3"); Polished-steel tailpipe tip (Expedition: twin-tip style); Comprehensive Owner’s Installation Manual

&
Trans-Command chip - see link.

This sounds really good. I don't like the fact of drilling into my transmission for permanent results. Looks like the Power Pack is just a combo of aftermarket exhaust pipe, muffler, headers, and swapping in a K&N air filter into the stock location. As far as the TransCommand goes, it sounds inviting. However, messing with the electronics of transmissions is a whole new ball game aside from the CPU. Have to do some more homework on Banks.

update on the Banks electronic shift kit.

they don't make one for out F-150's. Only for the 4R100 Superduty's. Nothing for our 4R70W's.

sorry guys. two tears in a bucket.

Question

I'm a little confused with the previous post, Banks Trans-Command is made for F-150s with the E4ODs and 4R100 transmissions. My 2001 f-150 supercab with the 5.4L has the E4OD transmission and it will work on it.

I'm thinking of getting it and maybe the Banks power headers too.
I'm not sure I want to run 92 octane gas and speeding up the timing on the engine might have a negative effect over time, if it runs hotter.

The headers are stainless and cost $800. I may look around to see if there are cheaper ones out there. If someone knows, please let me know?

$800?!?!

JBA has similar looking headers for approximately $350. Nickel plated only. But you can send them to Jet-Hot to coat them with no more maintenance ever again for like $100. Then buy locking header bolts and copper gaskets and you'll never have to maintain your factory headers again (claim).
