electric fan update

I installed a 16" Permacool electric fan about 5 months ago and several people had questions about it so I'm posting an update: To date no problems and the truck will not overheat. I live in South Louisiana and it's been very hot here. Last week I used the truck to drag some very large logs in the middle of the day and the truck idled for a while. I monitored the temp guage and it never moved throughout. Although, I would still recommend a dual setup in case one goes out this one severs the purpose without a doubt. I also have been pulling a 2500lb boat and once the temp guage gets to the normal area it never rises, ever. I'm not saying to buy one but this one works great so far. Good luck for those who are thinking about it. It's on my 99 F-150 with 5.4

Hi Mikey,

Thanks *very* much for your updated post on your results now that you've had this done for some time!

You're absolutely right, a lot of people have been waiting to hear about the results from more and more F-150 owners as they think about doing this mod.

The more posts we get of this positive result, the more people will feel comfortable with freeing up some power this way.

I especially liked your suggestion to go the dual-fan route even though you've not had a hint of trouble with your single-fan setup, and we would generally agree. This is how the automakers themselves normally implement electric cooling systems, with one low-speed and then another higher-speed fan, in most cases, though sometimes they'll just be a pair of dual-speed fans, each capable of lower or higher speed operation.

Glad to hear it's working out well for you Mikey & thanks for your info & helping others out who are thinking of going this route!
