Mike, need some help bud

Mike, you're the only person I feel I can talk to, so here goes.

Today my dad and I were drivin back from the store, and going 40 mph down the road. All of a sudden, the truck downshifted, with the pedal staying steady. The back end jerked quite oddly too. He floored it, and the truck felt as it had NO POWER but was ungodly loud.

This was quite odd, because earlier when we were pulling out of the store, the back end made a thumping noise. ANy idea of what happened? Also, the other day, the engine stalled in the car wash.

Whats going on? Should we call the dealer?

<edit> Humid and 85-90 degree weather>

Hi Fast,

Sorry to be a bit slow responding, we're getting ready for the Norfolk Rally, so please bear with us this week.

Hmmm, I'd really need to know a bit more about this, but it sounds like you have a transmission problem with that sudden downshift at 40 mph at a steady throttle position on flat & level ground.

Sounds to me like it needs to be checked by your dealership right away, that would be my immediate advice. Sometimes those transmission problems can lead to a complete failure & leave you stranded, or it could be something minor, but you really should have this vehicle checked out right away, so don't delay on this, ok? By the way, please say Hi! to your Dad for me!

Good luck, & let us know what they find Fast!
