Delta Force vs. SCT Xcal3

Trying to decide. Which? What is the difference? DF you use your laptop. SCT is a hand held. Do they both basically do the same thing? Can they both have O2 sensor input? Do they both datalog?
Which for 1998 F150 4.6 with 36lb, 90mm, cat back, Powerdyne S/C?

you will need a custom tune no matter which one you use.

i own a sniper delta force tuner and it was so easy use drop box's i had a custom tune on my truck in 20 mins. firmer shifts and can hold out gears longer. you can also data log as well.

400 bucks gets you the program the interface the USB wire to the comp. the OBDII wire to the truck. and allows you to tune 2 ford cars or trucks late 96-2005 i think maybe later now. went half with a friend so for 200 bucks i had my own custom tune in 20 mins and could data log as well. watch O2 switchs.

the SCT you start out 300-400?? for a hand held thing that you get 3 canned tunes on and have to wait months before geting your custom tune back...

everyone on here pretty much runs SCT i like to mess with stuff so the sniper is the way i went. its very easy drop boxs and stuff. can also change gear ratio and tire for the electric speedo.

love my sniper brought all my mods together

The only SCT tuner that takes months to send a tune is Troyer.

My original tuner has sent re-tunes to me via email in as little as two hours. At one point, six adjustments over a period of three days or so.
Each tuner is different and has a different work load and schedule.

You may be able to tune a lightly modified vehicle with the Sniper, but forced induction requires much more.

The Xcal3 with three custom tunes and, on average, six months support with re-tunes is $ 400.

Datalogging for re-tuning has to be done using a wideband controller in conjunction with the Xcal and a lap top.

I sent 5 Star Tuning a custom tune request yesterday with my vehicle info and computer code. He emailed me today, saying all the info looked good. I called him up and paid him on the spot and he said I should receive it in 2-3 days. Not sure why you'd use another company to give you a custom tunes which takes 6 months?

with the sniper i click a drop box that says "Induction" "N/A" "Supercharged" "Turbo charged" then from there it askes you what kind of mass air. Stock. Blow threw or suck threw.

and i can also fine tune the computer for A/F ratio

Do you have a wideband to tune the a/f's?

You can't tune without a wideband.

Two terms:

CL - the front O2s are adjusting the fuel
OL - the maf is adjusting the fuel

If you look at your datalogs you will see the transition from CL to OL when initiating heavy acceleration. The O2s shut off and the maf takes over. In your logs it will show as static at .820 lamba or ~12 afr which could lead one to believe that you are seeing a rich but acceptable and flat fuel curve. At that point your software sees none of the feedback/data for fueling, so whatever adjustment is available to you is a guess. Possibly a well educated guess, but not even close to accurate.

A WB measures a/f all of the time and shows a/f during the transition giving you info to adjust and correct the maf transfer function, which is the really where the rubber meets the road in custom tuning.

i can see the MAF CFM going into the motor as well. and the datalogging has a light that tells you if your OL or CL.

ive been meaning to get a wide band o2 anyways. is im gonna go with a blower i will get one with a gauge.

how do you tie into the front o2's with the wideband?

You don't. You have another O2 sensor bung welded on and put your wideband there.
