SCT X3 Locked...Help please!!

I just got an X3 that I bought off ebay and the damn thing still has the stock tune from the previous owners F150!!!!
I asked if he had unlocked the programer by reinstalling the stock tune before I even bid on it, and he said he had. WTF
I've already taked to SCT's tech support and confermed that its locked.....another $150 and with the price I paid for ther programer I could have bought a new one!!! I guess lesson learned!!

My question is weather one of the tuners out there can do anything with it or am I just stuck with sending it back to SCT to have it unlocked?????

P.S. sorry for the venting

I'd e-mail the seller and tell him you want a refund. He lied to you and the product is not as promised. I wouldn't roll over on this issue and file a complaint with ebay if you have to.

Only SCT can unlock it. None of their dealers have the equipment to do it. You are SOL.

If you purchased this through PayPal you can also use their resolution center, that has worked well for me when needed

Well after a couple of emails with the seller, he offered to split the cost of unlocking the programer, or he "might" be able to get ahold of the truck it was used to tune to try and return it back to stock.

I havn't decided if I'm going to let him try again to return it to stock or just have it unlocked by SCT. Either way I'm probably looking at two weeks before I would get it back.

The programer came in all of it's original packaging with every thing in it, including the SCT emblem to put on the vechicle (it will end up on my tool box), so if I sent it to SCT it would be like a new programer again for $290. Or I could take the chance and let him try again and save another $75.

Decisions, Decisions

Thats not acceptable IMO. He falsely advertised his product and now wants to put more cost on you. He should be paying for the tuner to get unlocked

No sense in ****in' around anymore.

But he lied. I would report him or something.

I went through this with some guy who bought my old Edge from my 02. His battery was half dead when he programmed and it faulted out...

He was trying to get his money back, telling me I was a scammer, I hadn't unlocked it from the past vehicle.... I fudged his truck for the weekend..(this happened on a fri, No edge support) So

I told him it was because of low voltage.... And told him to upload the software so it could reboot and try again.

He tried his buddies battery and it worked...

What a PITA dealing with that.

Yeah....that's kinda what I'm thinking.

I've got to think of it as getting a new programer for $100 less that buying a new one. Just sucks I've got to wait another two weeks to play with it though!!!

hit up some of the programming forums. there are guys out there that can unlock these. there is a local guy in houston that does it.

I wouldn't send it back to the seller though. he'll just relist it on ebay. lol.

I would file a claim on ebay and get the money back, that *** bag falsely claimed the product was unlocked. You should not have to put out more money.

I agree with the group here, get your money back.
You will be better off buying a new tuner from an SCT dealer with tunes, and some support.

That stinks. I've sold two of mine over the years and wouldn't do that. Its so easy to do. I'm thinking about selling my SCT from my 2010 now, and am trying to think why the seller did it. Did he keep the tune on his truck?

Well he said that he might be able to get ahold of the truck...he had sold it ...to try and unlock the tuner, but I didn't want to give him another shot to still have it locked up.
He ended up footing the bill to have it unlocked by SCT, which is fine by me. Still only paid $220 for it, just have to wait another week before I can play with it.
After a few conversations with him I could tell he realy didn't have a clue when it came to programers or vehicles for that matter. One of those "my mechanic said" type of guys.
I'm not going to file a complaint with ebay, because he was more that willing to do what ever was needed to make it right.

That's the plan.

Any suggestions?? It seems like they all do a good job from what I've seen on different threads. Just seems like the waiting time for the tunes is kinda hit and miss.
