Edge Pinging

a couple of months ago i bought an edge cs for my 2010 lariat 4x4 crew cab. I have run both 87 eco and towing tunes and both ping really bad. I thought maybe it was a gas quality issuse so i change were i got gas. Still pinging. is there something im missing? Should i update my programmed? I mainly wanted a programmer to adjust tire size since i installed a 2 AS leveling kit and 285/65/20 BFGs but wanted one i could upgrade. Anyways, anyone had a simliar issue?

thanks. I returned to stock and updated my software thru fusion. now have it set on 87 towing with no pinging at all. I wasnt sure if i should update the software right out of the box or not. But anyways everything seems to be working fine now. trying to decide on custom tunes or not

With the cs and CTS its always a good thing to update them when you get it out of the box....a person just doesn't really know how long they've been sitting there and what the latest firm ware is on them....at the same time do the registration also.....

Glad its fixed....

Mine pinged like crazy out of the box. I have been working with PHP to determine just how much timing I can take because I purchased it from them. I am glad to hear that I wasn't the only one that had pinging problems with the Edge tunes. (I bought mine right after they were released, and updating the device didn't fix the problem. Perhaps I will give an Edge tune a try again to compare it to my PHP custom tunes.)

I had pinging with my new CTS that I got for Christmas. I tried the 87 Eco and 89 Eco. I got worse mileage and pinging in #3 through #6 gears. I talked to Edge Tech and couldn't figure it out even after I updated through Fusion. i am currently working with PHP on getting some custom tunes made.

Anyone get this resolved yet? I was about to but a used cs, and was told of this problem..... If it is only going to be a tire re-sizer out of the box.... it ain't much good.

No word yet... I went ahead and got mine changed over to a Gryphon from PHP. If you are will considering an Edge Programmer, my advice would be to just to buy a CTS straight from PHP with their tunes.

True, if you don't mind my asking, what custom tunes did you order? I'm not sure that I EVER want to have to buy the expensive gas. Did you manage to get a decent tune that will run proper on the cheap stuff? I know that if I ever did gryphon up, that I would wind up getting a 93 octane octane option for fun, but not sure how much I'd enjoy filling up this pig with the good stuff. How would you say your mileage is compared to your stock tune?

I got the 87 and 83 Oct performance and the 87 tow. I had some issues with the tunes and have had PHP working on them. It's been a while since I have heard from them so I can't really report anything as of yet.

Ok, I got my new tunes (GRYPHON) today. (87 Perf, 93 Perf, and 87 Tow). I still get some detonation between 2300 and 3000 rpms but way better than the canned tunes from Edge. The performance is better, I get better pick up and will continue to work with PHP on the timing issue.
