Superchip on ebay
I just did a search for computer chips on ebay and found this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=593142411
It is a superchip model 1100 for module ZFT0. Apparently this guy received by mistake and has no use for it. Mike, if you see this, what type of ford truck does that computer module correspond to? I think the superchip is going to be my next mod so i'm looking everywhere for them. Also, being used, does that have any impact on the performance of the chip?

Hi klaibs27,
That Superchip will need to be reprogrammed before it can work on your vehicle, as ZFT0 is not for any 1999 5.4 F-150. By the time you pay to have it reprogrammed, you could have had a new one with a warranty for less.
We do encourage the use of used Superchips, as they rarely fail, but they are only a "bargain" if you find one that already has the exact same computer code as your vehicle, otherwise you have to pay to have it reprogrammed, and at that point, it's not a good deal financially.

My next question is what is the difference between a ZZT5 and a ZZT4 which is what I have. There is a superchip in the classifieds here that has the ZZT5, basically the same truck. Would this have to be reprogramed as well?
Hi klaibs27,
Yes, it will have to be reprogrammed as well. The code must match completely and exactly.
It doesn't matter that they are both 1999 5.4 automatic F-150's, there are dozens upon dozens of different codes for the exact same identical vehicle in the same model year, in addition to all the different codes for the various mechanical & powertrain configurations.
The only Superchip that is going to work on your ZZT4-code vehicle is one that is programmed to that exact same ZZT4 code. There are other ZZT-series codes, there's ZZT3 & ZZT5 as well as your ZZT4, but a Superchip programmed to those other codes will not work, it has to exactly match your ZZT4. That's the whole idea, to make the Superchip performance program according to the exact software revision in each individual vehicle's computer.
You may be able to take a ZZT3 or ZZT5 code factory computer and have it run your vehicle, that is possible in some cases, but you still have to have the code inside the Superchip match the code of the computer in use.

Well, i broke down today in my boredom and ordered myself a Superchip from Mike. I'm going to run this tank of gas out and start myself on Amoco premium so that I can throw the chip right in. This is a mod that mom won't see so she'll be none the wiser. I'm a slick one.
