How to find the best tuner.

I have some questions about getting my truck dyno tuned. First off im new to this whole tuning this as i use to have a v6 and had no need for it. Now i have a swapped in L motor i need it done for sure. I live in maryland and have a couple of places within 2 1/2 hours of me that are well known in tuning. My first concerns are how do i make sure they are good at tuning my turck. I have herd about JJ from woodbine Motorsports does a good job and some others say he does not. Some places charge crazy amounts of money does that make them better tuners yes or no. I just want to make sure i go to the right place that will do the best for my buck and not mess anything up.

Yep - make an appointment and drive down to see Mike Troyer. It's about a 5 hour drive each way for you.

If I only lived 5 hours from *THE* best, I'd be all over that, even if I had to take a couple vacation days and spend a night in a hotel.

Troyer is the absolute best tuner for F-150's, I just can't deal with his huge lead time on mail order tunes.

When you say "call and make an appointment with Mike Troyer", what advantages would you have over calling in a custom tune via phone? Also, what exactly would take place at the meeting? I only ask b/c I live about 4 hrs from Covington, VA...

Thanks!

He would use live data plus your truck's box code to write the custom tune....in short...the tune would be more precise....

You would also get your tunes on the spot instead of waiting months for them.
