E-85 tunes

Any one have tunes for e-85? Who offers them? Want to get better MPG using e-85. Currently getting around 12.5 MPG running e-85 and around 16 MPG running 87 octane. Even at the current $.80 price difference it is still cheaper to use 87 octane.

I'm not aware of anyone claiming to have an e85 tune that improves mileage. I think the differece you have posted is pretty typical and juat a fact of life.

the tune your truck comes with from the factory is the most efficient tune for E-85 made. the only tunes you can get are performance tunes, which may require getting newer, higher capacity injectors to get the full benefit.

I want to find a way to make using E-85 cost effective. If I could gain 1 to 1.5 MPG more I would be happy with that. I will just have to start calling the tuner companies and start asking.

Anyone have any luck with getting a really good E85 custom tune. I am looking to run it as my primary fuel choice, and want to get the most performance out of it. I have an 09 F150 5.4 and I have an SCT tuner. I am looking for input on a company that has made some good E85 tunes. I already have a VMP custom tune, but looking for some others to try.

I work with a tuner in SD who is an E85 nut, and basically lives on the stuff.

He tunes everything from bone stock trucks to 1500+ rwhp TT monster street cars, all on E85.

Check out the results one of our GM customers got from one of his E85 tunes.

He was getting 15.9 MPG with E85 on the stock FF cal from GM, and with Andys E85 tune, he is getting 19.8....

Well - that stock GM calibration must really suck, because Another top SCT tuner basically confirms what Troyer already stated:

I guess Ford's OEM FF calibrations are great, eh?

Sure like to know how ol' 'Andy' gets blood out of this particular stone

Not looking to start anything, but even reading through Troyers post there, not all of that info is accurate. Older fuel systems dont simply degrade due to E85 use, and everything I have ever seen switched from pump 83 to pump E85 has picked up quite a bit more than his suggested gains in power....

Maybe Fords FF cals are better, but I think we all know how much OEMs leave on the table with any programming

Andy is an E85 guru, no other way to put it. This guy can open a 50 gallon drum of E anything, and tell you what the % of ethanol content is from smelling it, its kinda messed up. He ran the dynomax power to the wheels tour for them for years, and by the end of the tour had all the top power making cars switched from race fuel to e85, and found more power on all of them...there is a LOT more to tuning these thngs for E85 than adding spark

So does Andy make tunes that can be emailed and that will work on my SCT? I looked at Dynotune USA's website and I didnt see anything that looked like I could order what I want.

I have heard Troyer is one of the best places to get a custom tune, but I cant/dont want the wait. If I was building a truck to race or some other intense use I would but have to wait 5-6 months to get an emailed tune seems a little ridiculous.

I already have a VMP tune on my SCT that has improved the driving experience of my F150, but I would like to try another 1 or 2 even to compare and see which one (if any) really brings the truck to life.

Understood. That's not why i posted the link - just fyi for E85. Same for VMP's link.

I don't think Andy uses SCT tuning technology. I didn't see any mention of it on the site either. He *may* know of someone E85-proficient who does, or you could ask Bill Cohron @ PHP - he does Gryphon and SCT.

*EDIT*. Before ol' Sir Shotgunz pounces, I d be derelict if I did not mention 5Star tunin' as well for a candidate lol
