Bought a code reader for my 92 f150

I cant start it but tried a off self-test,

code reader light just stays on even after 2-3 mins,

Is my comp bad??

im about to just buy a motor from the junk yard with a comp and change the cat converter,

 

do you have everything shut off?a/c, heat, radio etc?. the accesories can affect the code readings. do you have the little connector hooked into the code reader as well? you can try this method- http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=13
