Just got a gryphon
Just got a gryphon
Hello all. I just bought a used gryphon and I was wondering since i've had a regular edge evo on my truck about six months ago and sold it (returned it to stock before selling) Would i need to get my pcm reflashed at the dealer to avoid conflicts with the "old" edge files on the pcm? I'm going to get a custom 87 performance tune, Would disconnecting the battery for 20-30 minutes do the same thing as a reflash? I don't really understand what a reflash does and I don't want to just waste $100 dollars at the dealer.

No, your PCM was returned to stock, so assuming the HEX or calibration is contained in the Gryphon, you can just load it and go.

Thank goodness. So when i get my new gryphon just give php the hex code so they can write the new tune? Also what exact are the advantages to getting a re-flash? thanks for a speedy reply
If you are going to run tunes from a programmer, there are no real benefits from a reflash. I had mine reflashed twice before I decided to get a programmer. They improved the hesitation, but still fell far shourt of even the canned tunes from Edge.

Make sure you fill out ALL your information incase PHP needs to contact you....that's where they're going to look...
Re-flashes from the dealer clean up any tsb's and/or some of the other canned programmers on the market that leave traces of the now unloaded strategies....edge to my knowledge hasn't had this issue and you shouldn't have any issues cause the gryphon is an edge hybrid clone.....
