And if anyone wonders why you need to drive 100 miles while being back to stock.....its so the edge gryphon will have files to build off of again....

The electrical system on these trucks is just amazing.

i have a sct from vmp tuning and i notice after a few weeks the truck becomes kind of rough like it does when its on stock ( because of the exhaust ) but not as bad. i usually set it to another tune for awhile. can u leave it on performance or econ for a long period of time without harming anything?

If I were you I'd do a data logging session and send it to Justin....my tunes from PHP have never caused my truck to run rough...

Same here. I have 63,000 and counting on the tune. Never a hiccup.

Yes, why wouldn't you? As long as the tune is healthy for the vehicle (a/f ratio, timing etc) there's no reason to worry

Sometimes you don't know weather or not the tune is working properly without performing a datalogging session.....you may have a misinterpretation from time to time of a mechanical issue that seems like its tune related but the problem part just needs to be cleaned or replaced...

I was wondering the same thing...I had seen that too for the stangs.

Set back to stock
Disconnect/unplug programmer...edge or gryphon

Lights on
Wait 10-15 minutes
Then lights off
Reconnect battery
Reconnect programmer
Drive 100 miles on stock tune
Then load up your custom tune

As per Bill@PHP
So does this hold true for my VMP Tunes..

In a later post you say you need to drive 100 miles so the edge has something to work with.. Is that the same with the VMP XCal 2 as well?

I was considering doing this... I don't put a lot a lot of miles on my truck. Mainly short trips (couple miles round trip) to drop off packages for work. But still open it up some on the weekends on the interstate.

I have had the tunes on my truck for about 2 years (I think) and I think I have only unhooked the battery once last year when the battery died.

I am not familiar with the Grypon/Edge but with the SCT tuners you only get 5 unlocks so going back to stock all the time doesn't make sense. I would just disconnect the battery once in awhile and go from there. My .02$

I did not think that going back to stock was considered an unlock. I thought it was when you changed vehicles. If you are correct, then I would not want an SCT product. I return to stock when my dealer works on my truck.

You may be right Bluejay. I could have swore when I recently returned my truck back to stock it went from 5 to 4 unlocks.(It could have said 4 before when I bought the tuner and I wasn't paying attention.) I guess I will know shortly when I get my revised tunes.
