I ordered a tune from VMP and got the requisite "1-2 week wait time for custom tune" advisement. Are these things written from scratch for every order? Wouldn't it make sense to save the tunes that are written and slightly modify them for another order down the line if the mods change? I know there's tons of different mods out there and different PCM codes and on and on. But take my truck for instance. It's a stock 05 5.4 with no CAI and exhaust. Seems that if a baseline was on hand, a tune could be delivered much quicker. Not ranting, just questioning efficiency.

 

There are hundreds of HEX codes or startegies and each is different.

 

Oh, I assumed that the code for my 05 5.4 would be the same as any other 05 5.4. Any idea why Ford uses so many?

You're lucky that it's only taken 2 weeks, been waiting since Feb 22nd for a second sets of files and haven't heard back from them as of yet!! I'll be calling on Monday to get my refund since its customer services is not the greatest from what I've encountered.
