Just bought a used Edge Evo

And I think i have a problem.

I bought it locally and the guy i bought it from swears it was returned to stock before he sold his truck but when i hook it up it has a 3 in the upper right corner instead of a 0.

Just trying to figure out if im doing something wrong.
I hooked it up with the key off and then it said turn the key on but not start the vehicle.

When i do that it comes on with the 4 guages showing and the 3 in the upper corner. It seems as everything is working as i went through the menus but im afraid i will screw up my PCM if i try to change any settings or try to reset it to stock (which is an option). If i choose set it to stock Im afraid it will put his stock settings on my PCM which may be different than mine since his truck was a 2004 and mine is a 2008.

Yes i did search the site as well as google and have read that it will cost $75 to have it reset. Im assuming I would have to send the unit away to have this done??

I was going to download the fusion software and hook it to my PC to see if i could get more info but i dont have a cable that will hook up to the programmer at the moment. Would hooking it to the pc give me any info??

I guess my options are to get my money back from the guy (paid $200) or get $75 back and send it to be reset or get $75 back and send it to be converted to a gryphon.

Should have a 0. I would not attempt to return to stock, it may not even let you as thats how they prevent 1 tunner working on many trucks. For some reason if it did try to return it back to stock, your probably going to have trouble. I would contact the guy and let him know whats up. If he is local, I would meet him somewhere and watch him return it to stock. If thats not possible you may have to send it off to get reflashed.

EDIT, i see you said it was local, I would meet up with the guy and get it squared away. Hopefully he did not do it on purpose, essentially leaving his truck programmed to level 3.

^^^ X2 That programmer is useless unless it has been returned to stock in the original truck. It sounds to me (unless done in error) like he wanted his truck on level 3 and figured it will still work. Like the previous reply, DO NOT try to change the program level. Try to get it connected back to the truck it came from and have them "return to stock" mode. Explain to them that it is the ONLY way to get it to work in any other truck. If you have to have EDGE reprogram it for you it can be very $$$. Good luck, let us know how you make out!

:o OOPS... guess I skimmed through the story too quickly! Looks like he will have to send it to EDGE and try to recoupe the reflash money from the seller or maybe the truck is still local and has the program still in the PCM. If the dealer worked on it, they may have already reflashed the PCM to stock.

I found a cable to hook it to the PC and that says it needs to be set to stock before uprgading as well so its obviously not set to stock.

Trying to get hold of the seller to see if theres anyway he can get to his old truck to reset it. If not I'll probably get my money back or get the $75 (cost to have it reset) and then send it to PHP to convert it to a gryphon and get some custom tunes since i now have a true dual setup with hi flow cats.

I would just try to get the $75 and not even mention a full refund, that way you actually come out ahead.
