87 gryphon custom tune

I already have the 93 power and 87 tow tune just wondering if i should get the 87 power as 93 octane seems to be getting out of reach.

any noticeable difference between 93 and 87?

improved mileage?

price of custom tune?

I have true duals & s&b intake on 04 nbs f150 5.4

Are you running canned tunes with a CAI?

What programmer do you have?
Evo CS CTS?

I thought there was a noticable difference over the 93 canned perf tune when I started using the 87 performance custom tune.....when you figure in the cost comparisons between the two octanes I'm coming out a little bit ahead over what I could be getting with the 93 canned tune...

Note...every truck is different and so is its response to custom tunes....

I have an 87 perf. tune form PHP in my 2004 and I love it! I get great mileage (17-19) and have tons of power. I have never considered a 93 tune because I would not buy the more expensive fuel for the minimal performance increase.

I have the 87 Perf and 93 Perf and run the 87 exclusively. Yes there is a noticable difference but not very much and I really don't need the extra. The 87 Perf is so much better than the 93 canned, I'm satisfied and save a lot of money with the 35,000 plus I drive each year.

I agree that the 87 custom performance tune is better than the canned 93. I ran the 87 performance nearly always in my 06, and so far in my 09, I am doing the same. (still a detonation bug in the 09 for my truck, but Bill is working on it) If I only ordered one custom tune, it would def be the 87 performance.

That $10 per tank multiplied by two tanks a week, times 4 weeks per month. Well that feels like an extra 80 bucks per month in my wallet.

i switched to 87 tow tune for a tank simply to see the difference in price per tank not that big of difference but the torque of the tow tune is unreal (seat of the pants). seems to shift a whole lot better and aggressive. see what my mileage looks like may keep it their.

im waiting on my 87 performance tune to come in
the 87 canned tow sucks in comparison to the feel of the 93 canned
im running it on 91 octane and I can notice the difference all around. the 87 just have the same pull as the performance and doesnt fall flat on its face. throttle response seems a bit better as well

I have the 87 tune, 87 custom perf. and the 93 custom perf. from PHP in my 02.. i run the 87 perf. just because i am trying to save a little cash right now. The 87 perf. is great, but i can tell the difference between that and the 93 perf...But, the 87 perf is head and shoulders over the stock tunes...

The tow tune did not work well for me as I do a lot of highway driving and that tune tends to fade in higher rpms when called upon for passing on two lane roads. In, the canned tunes, I found that I got enough better mpg from level 3 to offset the extra cost of 93.

For those who have Gryphon 87 performance custom tunes, is it that much better than the 87 performance canned tune (level 2 on stock gryphon)? I still can't use anything on my truck other than level 1 tow only, as I have hesitation/missing issues with level2. (apparantly an issue with a certain PCM hex code, which I have). I would get a custom tune but kind of leary as this has been an open support ticket since end of October with no feedback. If spending $30 or whatever a custom tune costs will fix it I will gladly do that, as right now its an expensive paperweight. You'd think a canned tune would be drivable.

The level 2 canned 87 tow tune is more low end grunt....
The level 2 canned tune position on the Gryphon is for towing but some use it to run their cai while waiting for their custom tunes....
The 87 perf tune is more for the upper rpms....

Canned tunes don't always fit every truck in the box....

Custom tunes are for your trucks hex code.....
