I need some help picking the best programmer

I am getting my 05 f150 4 door 2wd 5.4liter v8 back hopefully friday. I FINALLY got it lifted up with a 6 inch fabtech lift kit, 325/65/r18 (almost 36's) bf goodrich all terrain tires, and 18 inch procomp rims.

I have a few performance ups I want to do to it to help get all my power back and then some. I am wanting to put 4.56 gears in it, a k&n air filter, and a programmer.

I was reccomended this programmer from superchips:http://www.autoanything.com/performa...0A2606091.aspx

what is yalls opinion? which is the best for me, I want to get my mpg back up and have great performance overall.

ps, I will probably never pull anything with my truck, nor take it that offroad

With your mods, current and planned, you absolutely need custom tunes.

Your first priority needs to be the new gears. At the same time, you need to pick out which tuning device will best serve you (permanently installed with gauges?).

If you haven't already checked it out, I'd consider the Gotts mod and keeping the OEM filter.

hmmm so basically in this order..

1.---4.56 gears from this website (is this the right gears)http://www.ringpinion.com/ProductDet...px?ProdID=3312

2.---gotts mod and KEEP the stock air filter and dont worry about getting a k&n one
(gotts mod from here-https://www.f150online.com/forums/articles-how-tos/369190-dwv-intake-mod-2004-2008-f150-5-4l-engine.html)

3.---a programmer, dont know alot about it, but what should I get? I want great performance, reliability, raises mpg by alot, and will last awhile.

Sorry, but that's not going to happen. If you're lucky you'll get 1-2 MPG. In fact you probably won't see any gain at all.

The tuner choice is really up to you. The most important feature of the tuner is the company writing the custom tunes. Pick your platform, then call the tuners and discuss your objectives.

The gears will help but only to maintain.....
The gears will also help from your big tires from beating up on your tranny....

Big tires are fun to look at on other trucks but once you put them on yours you find out the consequences.

Because it's a POS Washoobi....

... another feller will be dynoing his soon apparently - and will discover the hard way that there are NO power gains to be had. And a MAF to clean ( often).

See siggie.

Massive (pun intended) increases in rotational mass, height increases from lift - all affect mileage - aeros are worse and more torque is needed from the prime mover. You cannot fool Mama Nature nor Papa Physics.

Also be prepared for significant increases in stopping distance unless you also invest in a better brakes.

custom tune, gotts intake mod and for sure the 4.56 gears asap

you will get around 11-12 MPGs if you drive it gently and a lot worse when you romp on the loud pedal
