Looking to program my 2v 5.4
Hey,
I recently had a Hypertech Power Programmer III. I was not overly impressed with it although it did make a noticeable power difference around 2-3k rpm. Not an insane power difference but it almost felt as if the truck was lighter. I had unexpectedly sold it on this forum and after receiving some Christmas money I may look into another programming option, I would not mind having one like the edge evo or edge cs where I can view the EGT's and ect. Definitely can't afford a Cts. Should I expect about the same power gain as with the old Hypertech I owned? I was happy with it for $100 but for a $400+ programmer I would rather have a bit more power. I would rather run an 87 tune, and I am not interested in a transmission only mode. What is the biggest difference in an 87 tune and a tow tune? Does regular tune raise egt's to the extent that towing would push it over the limits? I am very new to programming these trucks, but I am eager to learn more!
My truck has a AEM Brute Force CAI and a Magnaflow si/so 3" exhaust.
Also, what parameters does the Edge evo and CS monitor on a gas burner? Most all demo pictures online show parameters for diesels like boost, ect.
Thanks

The Hypertech and the CS will be about the same as far as performance gains.....getting custom tunes would be an improvement over the canned ones.
The difference between the 87 performance and tow is the performance gives you more top end and the tow gives you more bottom end.

do not get another canned tuning device, if you aren't impressed with the hypeertech then you sure won't be impressed with the Edge (unless the "guages" add to your "liking"...
get a custom tuned Gryphon CS or an SCT Livewire since you are dead set on having the "guages"
