will the edge programmer hurt my fx4

i have a 2009 ford f-150 fx4 with a k&n cold air intake and flowmaster dual exhaust. i just bought a bds 6" lift kit for it with 35's. my question is , will that programmer be safe for my truck?

Yer already hurting yer truck with that K&N Washoobi crappola.

You have a slot-style MAF - hence you are actively peckering yer MAF TF and are risking a lean condition. 09+ trucks are not immune.

The effects of a programmer are the least of yer worries.

And - NO - the Edge was designed for stock intakes only - it cannot correct this condition.

Do this:

1. Remove K&N Washoobi immediately.

2. Order a Gryphon CS, CTS or SCT Xcal3 (preferred because this one actually controls yer tranny - the Gryphons do not fully as of yet). The Edge also lacks TCM control.

BTW - nice job on plugging up yer exhaust. The OEM system is straight-through free-flowing design. And you went ahead and put on a restrictive chambered exhaust. However - if sound was yer primary goal, not improving performance - then that's just fine by me.

As for lifts/35's - that's gonna hurt too - and put additional strain on the drivetrain/tranny. Just Be advised. A programmer will get some perf back ( nowhere near all, though), but a re-gear will help far more here - and will help protect the tranny.

Hint - there is a concept called 'Research'. That, coupled with another concept called 'Google', works wonders to avoid mutliple faux-paux as above. Right here on this site - all the info at yer fingertips - just an 'Advanced Search' away. ALL of this has been covered in exhaustive, excruciating detail.

See sig for some helpful links to info.

GOOD LUCK! I mean that! Whatever else you do, do NOT take me seriously !!!
