data logging my other truck
data logging my other truck
hey guys. i have my sct2 programmed to my ranger. as in i already have a tune on the sct and its programmed into the ranger.
now i know that i can still use the sct to scan other ford vehicles for codes, with my tuner locked to my ranger, but can i also use the logging for other vehicles as well??
for example, like stated above, as far as i know, my tuner is locked to my ranger since i put a code on it from jess and downloaded it to my ranger ecu. but now i have my f150 that i want to do little things to, for example an intake mod. can i do this mod and then hook my sct to the f150 and my laptop and see what kind of gains if any i get??
i already have all the additional programs downloaded to my laptop, i just dont want to hook up the tuner, and wipe out the tune from the handheld, or worse accidentally put the tune onto the f150 and screw it up.

Hi bud, and welcome!
Yes sir - you can, and safely.
Just like being able to use as an OBDII scanner on other supported vehicles, you can also datalog as many dirfferent supported vehicles as you wish, without disturbing/harming the existing tunes.
I recommend that you use the device as a passthrough to a laptop running LiveLink - much more functionality that way.
Did you see TJ's sticky on this? https://www.f150online.com/forums/4189723-post8.html
Good luck & cheers!

hey man thanks for the quick response.
yea i hooked it up to my truck, with the sct as a passthrough device and it worked awesome.
i did run into a couple problems though.
-i was using my new little netbook as the laptop and it didnt have any of the sct software on it. so i dl'd it and first saw that it was livelink 6.2. and i saw one the link that you sent me, he was using 6.2 for his sct x3, and said he was using 5.1 for his x2. you think il have a problem with my x2??
-i also saw there were "updates" for the 2005-2007 f150, and below it it said "use only for those year f150's" well i want to use this on my 97 ranger. should i get the 2 updates?? like i said it used it and it seemed to work alright without the updates.
-and lastly, for right now. it gave a list of like 205 points of logging. but not one of them seemed to say anything about about logging hp. which is what i basically want it to. do you have any idea of where i might be able to find it?
basically i suppose i would want to track hp,tq (which i saw a couple tq logging points) and i guess fuel economy (which i saw a couple fuel logging points). and anything else i would want specific to whatever mod i did, but those 3 are the most important ones i would want.
