A week with the Edge...

I've had my Edge installed for about a week now. I was really surprised what a difference it made. My truck takes off as soon as I put the pedal down, still getting used to my wife yelling at me when I take off so abruptly, I'm not used to the added response yet. It really makes the truck seem like it has something under the hood now when I lay into it. I've been running level 2, I haven't had a tank of gas ran thru it yet to check the mileage. I may run level 3 on the next tank to try it out.

After a lot of reading, It seems that the edge evo will be best for me.

I dont plan on modding but if I ever do I can just ship her off to PHP for the conversion.

Thanks for your review

I've had both on a stock truck and the Gryphon with custom tunes is far better.

But what if I can locate an Edge Evo for a really good price? And just upgrade later. I dont plan on the purchase until after X-mas. Gotta take care of the Wife and Kids first

Then I will be really serious in my research. Until then....

Gotts mod... Detail the heck out of it!

That's what I plan to do, I found a great deal on the Edge, when I get the money I'm gonna send mine in for the upgrade too.

I bought the edge new and if I knew then what I know now I would have just bought the gryphon from the get go. I have grown so used to the edge that I am so spoiled to remove it long enough to ship it to PHP for the upgrade. These trucks are big ole pigs without a programmer.

I agree with above just this week i got the Custom tunes from Gryphon and I have to say it wins hands down.
And think I waited 5 years to get it because of warranty, next time that wont happen.

I still have some time left on my factory warranty so I am a little apprehensive about adding the tuner right away.

Will an edge void my warranty?

It all depends on your dealer. Some even sell tuners. My dealer is very anti tuner. A tuner in it's self does no harm to the truck and should even lengthen the life of the transmission. The problem is that if you put a tuner on it, they think you're flogging it all the time. That is not necessarily the case. I drive mine fast but not hard and have 110,000 miles on it, most of them with a tuner. The tuner is required to make the truck perform as it should from the factory.

Ive got an 07 fx2 with the 4.6 and i just had 2 cats replaced by my dealership with with only 44,400 miles on it. luckly my buddy works up at the ford dealership and did the work on the truck. and he knew i ran my edge, running the engine too far advanced will cause the cats to fail. just fyi

ps Cats are warrentied to 80,000 miles so if you hear any odd sounds coming from the exhaust system take it to the dealer and get it fixed while its free

Running the timing too far advanced can cause other serious issues, also. Just like anything, you have to use it wisely.

I have had PHP custom tunes on my truck for about 7 months now. The truck had 112,000 miles when i added the tunes... no problems so far, and i wonder how i ever ran it without them..
