I've Decided Which Tuner/Programmer I am Going With. :)

I've decided to go with the Superchips Cortex Programmer. The reason being is it comes with a 2 year and up to 100K mile powertrain warranty. This gives me the peace of mind tuning my stock truck and extending the warranty on the powertrain. :)

I think you will be happy with your decision. They picked up over 30 hp in some parts of the power curve so you will should feel some more pep. I am leaning towards that same programmer myself. Please post up on here once you have it installed and let us all know how it drives. Its hard to find reviews on these.

For sure. I can't wait to get it. I am going to call my supplier and order it tomorrow. Cool thing about the Cortex is that you can program up to two vehicles. I was going to go with the Edge tuner but figured I rather save some $ and get the warranty.

I think autoanything.com has them for 379 shipped, that includes overnight shipping!!. This unit is definitely cheaper than the Edge will be, the Edge isnt even released yet.

I am not knocking a sponser.
Don't get me wrong.

Think about it.......
Why in the world would a tuning company have a power train warranty with their device.???????????

Just odd that's all.
And now........
Back to the show.

:lurk:

Good PR? High degree of product confidence?

BTW - Roush offers powertrain warranties with their S/C's, a component of which is custom tuning ....

Yea I just decided to keep it. Didn't make sense to sell it for just the space of a crewcab and have that big balance again on the loan. Rather just pay this badboy off sooner than later.

I have a wholesale account so I get it for a little less. :)

I really don't see how a warranty like that is worth much. How can you prove the tune caused the breakdown? Doesn't mean it is not a good tune, just some good marketing hype to pull some sales.

I think the better question is how can they prove that the tuner didn't cause the problem??

You think they will pay for a new engine when there is no reason to believe the tuner caused the failure? If they do, they won't be in business long. I foresee Ford saying it was the tuner and the tuner mfg saying it was the injectors, or the faulty PCM or whatever and noone paying off without a legal battle.

Bluejay Aug 4, 2010 01:57 AM

The otherside of the deal is that in the 5 or 6 years we have discussed tuners on here, I do not recall one ever being the reason for an engine or tranny failure. The failures may have happened due to abuse or just normal mechanical failure, but a proper tune is not going to cause failure.

Touché! But I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Hopefully I'll never have to deal with that though. :)

You probably won't. It's just that I would not let that warranty be the deciding factor in my choice. I would by the tuner that I thought fit what I wanted to achieve. That was the point I was trying to make.
