Fading EVO screen

Hey guys, have had my Edge Evo for about 1.5 to 2 years and have had zero issues with it. I bought it from the original owner with everything it originally came with. Question is this, yesterday when I powered up the truck, the screen (readouts) are really faded, restarting doesnt help, it wasnt out in direct sunlight and now I am curious that if it fades completely out, I wont be able to read it if I need to return to stock. Anybody else have this issue of the faded screen? Should I return to stock and pull the unit? If I pull the unit with the PCM in say canned Stage 2, will a new Evo pick up where the original left off? And finally, what are my chances the Edge will replace it or do I just need to hit Craigslist again? As always, thanks for your help!

You may want to check your vehicles battery.
Get the battery load tested.
Do not put it back to stock until you confirm that the battery is good.

Try hitting the + button to make it brighter. you can remove the display, whatever tune you have loaded stays in the PCM. However, if you are trashing that display or going to another unit, you must return to stock first. A new unit will not recognize anything other than a stock tune.

I will look into the battery issue. Wouldn't I see other signs of a going bad battery besides a fading screen on the evo? Everything else works / looks perfect and the (my lack of mechanical understanding may show itself right about here) evo says my battery voltage is the same as it always has been which was about 14.3 or 13.9 with AC on. Is the battery load something that the evo will pick up on or is this a run to the auto parts store test?

When your factory gauges start going haywire then you know for sure your battery is going

The evo more or less monitors the alternaters output.
The only time it monitors the batterys voltage is when you turn the key to on without starting the engine.

I repeat once again do not do anything with the programming until you confirm the integrity of the battery.

Mine is doing this too. I took the unit out because I was going to trade the truck, but the deal fell thru. When I put it back in the display (numbers) was clear and bright. That was about a week ago and now it's back to fading. If it's the battery, why would it be good at first and a couple of days later it's fading?

Hopefully my not so old battery isn't failing but things on my truck are starting to do that more often.

My evo screen is getting darker (as in blacker background) and I attribute it to the Texas heat and my black truck.

I'm in NH. It's been hot here in the past week, 90's. But it's been doing this for longer then our heat wave. I'm going to unplug it now and give it until I head out for work to see if that does anything. (it will be unplugged for an hour, not that it really matters).

Well 88Racing's advice has never wronged me before, so I will test the battery before doing anything else and report back. It has been hot here the last several weeks, but the truck sits under a tree most of the day and then is in a cool garage at night. I am assuming everyone pretty much never takes the unit out of the truck, I dont know why you would except for the dealer visit and possibly some theft avoidance.

Mine fades slightly at times. I think it is due to the high heat around here. My battery is new and good so I can rule that out. I just go to contrast, hit + and it is fine then hit - to put it where I had it. It's not all the time, every few days

Mine is back to normal after unplugging it and giving it an hour or so before I plugged it back in. It was hot here again today, upper 80's and it looks normal so far.

Makes no sense why this would help, but so far it's 2 for 2 in making the problem temporarily go away.
