Get my Edge Evo Today I am afraid to do custon program

Hi I just get my Edge EVO today, very happy about it this was a old dream to have one.

Those are my Questions?

1- Number 2 program will help with my gas/mileage? I use 87 gas, sometimes 89.

2- Number 1 program will be better for gas/mileage?

3- I notice my transmission shifts fast between 1 2 and 3 but the 4 gear looks little late to shift? (On #2 program) Can I adjust it and how? Or this is normal for #2 program?

The AMPG shows on the EDGE is between 12.7 and 13.5 my old MPG is 14.5 (06 F150 1/2 ton 8'bed- bad on gas and 33' tires). Maybe is too early to compare it since I just drove few miles with the #2 program.

I am very happy with the power gain, it is noticeable.

Any help wil be appreciated since I am new to this Edge Evolution program.

I think the only reason a person gets better mileage out of one of these is because they are watching the IMPG and once they see how bad that really is they lift their foot a little more. Thats how I feel as when I am watching mine. As far as AMPG you are better served to continue using the ole pencil.

1) The level 2 tune is intended for towing but many people run it as their daily driver tune. Some people find that the level 2 tune gets them better mileage compared to the performance tune but you would have to give it time to see.

2) Just like level 2, you would have to use it to make sure. The level 1 only adjusts transmission shifting and has no benefit on the engine. You'll notice that in comparing levels 1 and 2, the level 2 will be much more fun.

3) You can adjust the shift points in the custom options menu next time you program or switch between tunes. I STRONGLY recommend READING the instruction book before doing anything in that menu. I've seen plenty of "oops" posts. The link I have posted below this is to a company's forum that specializes in custom tuning. They use a programmer nearly identical to yours (with a few more bells and whistles) but the custom program menu is the same. The link is very useful in explaining many of the options in that menu.

Dont put too much stock in the two economy PIDs. Pencil and paper are still the most accurate. Given enough time you will figure out the average difference between reality and what the programmer says.

Just keep having fun with is, that is the main reason people buy them.

A Ninja is afraid? LOL

The only mileage that counts is what you get when you divide gallons udes by miles traveled. Both of those electronic calculations are off, I never pay attention to them.

If you run 89 on level 2, be sure and bump the timing up +1.0

Yes Bluejay I am afraid, with this economy even a NINJA can't afford to screw up his truck lol
Thank's for the tip. You are right the pencil and paper it is a better way to know the G/M, which I use anyways.

Yes I have a heavy foot, especially after I installed the 44' flowmaster which sound so good when you floor it lol , and then I watched the AMPG on the Edge I notice how bad my Gas/Mil. is when I do it.
Yes the pencil and paper still the best way to really know the G/M.
Thank's
