Got my custom tunes from PHP

Recieved and installed my custom tunes about a week ago. I got 87 custom perf and 91 custom tow.
I have been runiing the performance tune. The 87 custom perf is the same and I would say slightly better than the 93 canned on the edge. The biggest difference between the two I have noticed on my truck is the tranny shift points. With PHP custom tunes the trans seems to be in the right gear all the time. And I have also noticed that the engine seems to run smoother overall. As far as power, well she has some real pep to her step now in all driving conditions.
I was concerned about going with PHP after reading stories about it taking a while to get the tunes. BUt I also read many more saying it was worth it. As of now I must agree its worth it. It took 7 weeks from the day I sent my hex code to get my tunes.
Now I am looking forward to my first tow to see how the tow tune works out. Once I do I will post about it

Glad you are happy with the performance tune. I have one coming myself and am pretty excited about it. PHP can take as long as they want as long as the quality is there. I'm a patient man.

You won't be disappointed. Got my custom 87perf/93perf tune a few months ago.. very happy with the performance of my truck since then. It's like it found another gear.. and 30 more hp..

I thought PHP stated 30 or 35 Hp and 50 TQ on the web page?

Gains of up to 35 HP and 45 ft/lbs (5.4L 3-Valve engine).

^ thats just canned tunes, I am guessing for the 91 canned and a stock engine.

Now I guess if you have some small things also done to the truck you might gain up to 50HP over all, thas what I figured I got, between 40 and 50 HP over stock between my custom 93 perf and the CAI.

Calm down
Uncle Jesse has probably got the 5.4 2v(97-03+04h) motor which is less than the 5.4 3v(04-present) motor.

I'm just starting week 7 of my wait for two custom tunes, so I'm hoping to see mine come in soon too. Can't wait.

each tune is custom made to the individual owners truck and the modifications they have made to it in order to make it run at peak efficiancy. since there are a limited number of "prefered" tuners you may find yourself waiting your turn in order to have your tune made up for you.

Once upon a time you could turn a few screws and such to get a little more power. Well trucks like yours are almost completely controlled by a computer. If you want to make little tweaks you now have to make changes on the truck's computer. The programmer is the tool to do it. The programmer comes with basic "calibrations" or "tunes" that make adjustments to a wide variety of vehicles. Unfortunately the bar on the tunes has to be set low enough that any truck (in a specific age bracket and such) can be safely operated, not all trucks need the bar set so low. That is why people get custom tunes. These tunes are specially built for your truck, your driving style and even the area you drive (like the altitude you drive at). The largest chage people see is going from stock to a canned tune. The custom tunes are usually more of a "polished" tune designed to fit a driver.

ok, that makes sense. so a "canned tune" is when you first buy the programmer and install it, no changes?

A canned tune is a "one size fits all" or "off the shelf". It comes with the hardware and certain parameters can be adjusted. A custom tune is written specically for your truck with it's PCM strategy and any mods you have, plus some input on how you want it to perform.
