That's where PHP bought the cables from.
I have my doubts that would be effective as the unit is technically not an Edge and was not bought directly from Edge but if KRC has any luck getting his money back I will give it a shot.

You know edge should've manned up to the problem to begin with and sent everyone with a bad cable a new one. You'd think a company that size would keep good records so they could figure out who got what when and how.
The other thing that takes these cables out for the 97-03 f150s is low voltage and voltage spikes. Like when you jump start it. So its a good idea to disconnect the Gryphon on the 97-03 f150s before doing this.

I am guessing that you did not get your money back for towing and getting your PCM reflashed as I see that you have already sold the unit and cable that Edge replaced. I didn't have high hopes on this.

A year and a half later the replacement edge is acting up... same syptoms as the original was doing. I was able to get the truck to stock setting though before it took a crap... Im guessing i got another bad cable... Im not going to screw with it anymore and edge can stick it up there a$$.

try ohming out the cable and see if there is a specific bad wire that could just be repaired.

FWIW thats why i prefer having a tune actually loaded to the PCM and be done with it, then setup other aftermarket gauges if needed

Pats

I have recently done the 4.6 to 5.4 swap and the engine idles and revs fine. It has great passing power, but the the low and midrange build power very slowly with part to half throttle. I am using all of the 4.6 components except for the 5.4 block. I have been advised that a dyno tune will solve the problems, but I want to try to avoid another $1000 dump.

My question is this… Is there any (inexpensive) way around the PATS system if a PCM is transplanted from the same year truck with a 5.4 and the same tranny? Its an 03 btw.

I am pretty sure that I’ve read this somewhere, but I cant seem to find it again.

Thank you

You won't need a DYNO tune, all you need is a CUSTOM mail order tune from one of the good tuners.

I think the only way around the PATS on a PCM swap is tow it to a dealer for reprogramming.

Thanks, glc. I spoke with sct today and they didn't have anything for me :-(

SCT doesn't actually supply custom tunes, not that I know of anyway. Talk to 5Star, MPT, and a few others that are more specialized, about it. Those companies use the SCT platform to write their tunes.
