James Gordon @ Tuning by James
James Gordon @ Tuning by James
So Troyer Performance is supposed to deliver my tunes this next week... However I am just preparing a fall back in the event that I am told that I will need to wait much longer. I was recently talking with the SCT guys to see what other off of the map tuners there are and Matt from SCT suggested two, one of them being James Gordon from "Tuning by James". Anyone know anything about him or have used him. I realize he used to work at SCT and probably is friends with Matt so I can understand his recommending a buddy, but I wont write him off that easy. Any insight or experiences you guys have with James would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Here's his website.

Maybe we need some new blood around here?
Haven't ever heard of him either?
I'd say give him shout and see!

Well I already shot him an email
...... I mentioned my current situation of waiting for almost a year for my tunes, and told him I was interested in his time frame for a tune and his prices.....
For a typical tune he quoted me $75.00 for the first tune and $25.00 for all additional after that, very fair if the work is good IMO. He also said that he is capable usually of a 1 day turn around time......
I asked him about his website as you can see it is.... well....... not much :P. He said he made it about a year and a half ago using some Microsoft software, after the release of IE9 his website appears broken, and Google Chrome will not display it at all... this is due to old code compatibility that recently has changed and become a standard to not support fully anymore (a good thing for security). I offered to build him a website (was expecting to do it for dirt cheap or a few tunes) and he said he had already contracted to someone to do it but thanks for the offer.
He responded to my email in less than an hour, if that's any indication of his customer service skills *shrug*. I'd be willing to give him a go if things don't work out well in my current sitting. I may even go to him for future ones just to try out his tunes/service.
If you do the math on it 75.00 for the first is a bit more than a few other places by like 10.00..... it breaks even at 2 tunes and at 3+ you start to save, although he is just slightly modifying the original like anyone else so its a good plan on his behalf to make some cash up front for his initial work.

Hi:
First time poster. I have a 2011 SHO and initially purchased the SCT 93 Octane tune from "Tuning By James." It was outstanding. So I went back and purchased the "Aggressive Street Tune." and that one still blows my mind sometimes. I need to get it to a track or have some serious planned one on ones with some serious competition to be sure but it seems to run with some big names in power. It is the car of my dreams. A 5 or 6 year old AMG performance level in a car costing $42,000 with more features and fewer letters to remember.
Non supercharged Mustangs and Camaros and most hemi's need to be aware that a 213 cubic inch V6 in SHO form when unshackled by James is a serious contender.
Nice thing, it requires no CAI, or exhaust modifications. They don't have much effect. Just install his program. My total out of pocket is $700. I'm guessing the gain is $10 per horsepower. Best deal in town.
