Tuner vs Tuner

I am curious if any of you ladies or gentlemen ever had a tuner comparison?
Take several favorite tuners and run them on the same truck to compare drivability, max hp/tq, economy and what ever floats your boat. Seems like similar propositions that have been made on other forums never really come to fruition

I recall that one guy has run Troyer tunes and then VMP tunes and I believe there has been someone that had PHP tunes and went to VMP. Most of us don't have the funds to spend doing that kind of camparison. As I recall, the tunes pretty much did the same thing, were very close. Most of us would rather spend our money doing other things as we are not trying to get the "last" ounce of power but just much better performance and they all provide that.

EDIT: Just noticed you might be questioning from a diesel point of view, and I am speaking gas.

No you had it right, I was asking concerning the gassers. I was just curious. The subject has always come up where tuners would provide a tester with thier best effort for tunes, read free for testing purposes, and do a comparison. So the tester donates the rig and the tuners the tunes.
I agree with the part in bold completely, same for the diesel tuners out there.

I'm a happy PHP customer but agree with tarajerame. I have heard good stuff about all of them.

For the most part of the 5 tuners for gassers that get mentioned on here all have been proven competent in their businesses of writing custom tunes.

Diesel's are somewhat different in the approach that those tuners need to take on how they write their tunes for those trucks.

Yep. There is little or no incentive. They all have all the business they can handle, so why would they spend the effort and give away freeby hardware. Plus, there is a limit to what these engines/transmissions can safely do, and I suspect they all set their parameters just inside those boundries. A contest such as taht would only encourage pushing the limits for bragging rights. I am quite happy with the one I chose, but would have no hesitence in going to one of the others if I felt a need.

The main difference is in the hardware.
