Ford engineers are highly experienced and skilled, so why do tuners work so well?

One more thing. Say a tune costs $450.00. There are no warranties about the power train with the tune. Just a statement that Ford has to prove that the tune caused the failure for the warranty to be void. Would you pay the Dealer an extra $450.00 for a few more mpg and no warranty?
